Dr Barbara Badoino leads the corporate ethics, risk & compliance (ERC) function at Novartis, where she drives an integrated approach to assurance across governance, risk management, compliance and internal controls. Her work is centred on strengthening organisational resilience and fostering a culture of integrity across the enterprise. With more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Ms Badoino brings a deep understanding of the global healthcare landscape. Since joining Novartis in 2009, she has held leadership roles across research, development, commercial manufacturing, and now ERC – each shaping her holistic view of enterprise risk and business transformation. She chairs the Novartis Risk Leadership Team, leads enterprise crisis management, and oversees key global programmes including anti-bribery, human right and third party risk management. Recognised internationally as a thought leader in corporate resilience and ethical business, Ms Badoino represents Novartis in the World Economic Forum’s Risk Officers Community and serves as a visiting lecturer at the University of St. Gallen. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Genova in Italy and speaks three languages.
