Patrick Wellens brings 30-plus years’ experience in governance, risk and compliance in the pharma, FMCG and manufacturing industries. For the last 11 years, he has worked at Bayer as country compliance officer, country data privacy officer and global divisional compliance officer, where he designed and implemented the compliance management system, designed and implemented global third-party risk management system and participated in numerous global compliance projects. He has also worked as a country chief financial officer, regional finance manager Latin/Central America, corporate audit manager (building the internal audit department for a pharma company) and in a Big4 forensics department helping boards and chief compliance officers with fraud detection and investigating services. He has 20-plus years’ experience managing teams conducting complex and sensitive investigations in all continents, working with law firms and prosecutors. Mr Wellens is the chairman of Ethics & Compliance Switzerland, a member of the editorial board of the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics and a board member of the Association of Corporate Investigators. He has published extensively in numerous compliance journals and contributed chapters to various handbooks. He is a certified fraud examiner, certified compliance and ethics professional, certified internal auditor, and certified risk manager assurance.
